![]() Last night around our beach bonfire Crabby and Skipper thought that it might be a jolly good idea to give us all a task. After completing their natter, Crabby barked out our orders or should that be our 'marching orders?' Tellins, Sunset and Hoof have got to find out what 'Rough Music' is. If anyone can manage this task they most certainly can ! Because Rainbow is an experienced pilot, she has to investigate reports about the Shibden Valley flying machine which was flown around in the 1680's! Even though Leonardo da Vinci created his design of the ornithopter around 1485 the first powered flying machines were not created till the 1800's . Barnacle enjoys sailing so he has been teamed up with Poet to find out everything they can about John Taylor the Water Poet including his funny publicity stunts. Poet recited one of John's poems to us: ' By wondrous accident perchance one may Grope out a needle in a load of hay; And though a white crow be exceedingly rare, A blind man may, by fortune, catch a hare.' The rest of us are to investigate a tale about a character nicknamed 'Razzel Dazzle,' this could be related to stories from years ago about a man who had attached springs to his feet to enable him to leap high into the sky. Crabby and Skipper volunteered to miss out on all of this fun. They will remain on the bay watching cress grow! (Though they strongly protest that they will be using items found on the shore and a few seeds to grow the cress and not just sit and watch.) With reminders of " Now don't be strangers and keep us informed" ringing in our ears off we all all trot on our latest adventures. |
